Bombay Velvet: Explore Anurag Kashyap’s High Budget, Ambitius Film In Depth

An upcoming Hindi period drama, Bombay Velvet is the film co-produced and directed by the renowned director Anurag Kashyap. The movie is based on the book ‘Mumbai Fables’. The book is written by ancient historian Gyan Prakash .the movie will be demonstrating the story of a boxer, Johnny Balraj, and an aspiring jazz singer, Rosie. The film reveals about how the duo’s hopes and dreams collide with their individual realities. Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka and Karan Johar will be appearing in lead roles. Raveena Tondon, Kay kay Menon and Siddharth Basu will be performing the supportive characters. The movie is scheduled for its official release on May 15, 2015.
The director was inspired to make such a neo-noir drama after reading L.A Quartet, believed to be a sequence of four crime fiction novels by James Ellroy. The efficient novel inspired Kashyap to “dig into the dark trenches of the history of Bombay, where the man found a treasure trove that was really never-ending.
The junior Kapoor will be portraying a role of street fighter, whereas the sparkling diva Anushka will be appearing as a jazz singer, as well as Ranbir’s love interest in the movie.
The all time renowned Karan Johar will carve his full-fledged acting debut with Bombay velvet, the man will perform the role of a primary antagonist named as Kaizad Khambatta. It is being said that Karan’s role is inspired from Russi Karanja.
Bombay velvet will be released in two versions, one for its own Indian audience and the other for the international ones. Reports state that the editing for the international version is performed by Oscar-winner Schoonmaker , whereas the Indian version of Bombay Velvet, is being edited in by Prerna Saigal, who was an associate director and editor for the Indian film The lunchbox.
The music of the movie is composed by the Music director Amit Trivedi.Amit began working on the soundtrack after the official release of movie Dev D. Amit revealed in the interview that the music of Bombay Velvet will surely reflect the age of 1960s Jazz era of B-town. The song lyrics are being written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Singer Neeti Mohan will be lending her melodious voice to Anushka Sharma’s character. Mohit Chauhan has given voice for the songs of this film.
